I might change my major.

I’m currently a Spanish major that will be going into the secondary education program, but I do not want to teach. I realized that is why I am not enjoying college. I am not here for what feeds my passion. I am here to obtain a degree in a field that I do not want to pursue. I will be miserable having to teach snot-nosed kids a language that they do not care for. I should be here for something that makes me happy because I have not been very happy lately. My favorite class this semester is my intro to linguistics course. My professor is so cool, and the material is outstandingly interesting. I’ve always said to myself that I would love to become a linguist; therefore, why not minor in linguistics instead of going into the secondary education program and being miserable? I am still unsure of what path I want to take, but my idea is to major in Spanish and minor in linguistics or vise versa.

The only reason why I’m sketchy about it is because I am not sure what direction in the career world I can take. Possibly, translation/ interpretation or something I don’t even know about? I definitely need to speak with my advisor.
